Antoinette Banks
At Expert IEP, Antoinette Banks and their team are on a mission to revolutionize the way Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) are conducted in schools across the nation.
Inspiration:
Antoinette's journey in this field began with a personal and professional passion. Her daughter's journey with autism and ADHD led her to question why she wasn't getting the support she needed in schools. As a Cognitive Scientist, Antoinette couldn't help but wonder why this was happening, and she realized that many families were facing similar challenges.
Determined to make a change, Antoinette and Leonard teamed up to create Expert IEP—a platform built by parents, for parents.
Yas Prize Journey:
Expert IEP's dedication to transforming education has led them to the Yas Prize—a prestigious competition with a mission that aligns perfectly with their vision. Out of 2,000 applicants, Expert IEP has emerged as one of the 64 quarter-finalists for the Yas Prize.
The Yas Prize Mission:
The Yas Prize was initiated by its founders, Jeff and Janine, in response to the challenges faced by our students during the COVID-19 crisis. Many of our children were suffering, and the effects are still felt today. The $1 million Yas Prize celebrates the country's most outstanding education providers who embody the principles of STOP: Sustainable, Transformational, Outstanding, and Permissionless.
The Journey Continues:
As a quarter-finalist, Expert IEP has secured $100,000 to continue their mission, but they're far from done. Soon, Antoinett will be in Cleveland, Ohio, to see if they advance to the next round, where they have the opportunity to win a million dollars.
